oh my giddy aunt! page 3

'Before too long, the Doctor picked up a companion that would stay with him for the rest of his current incarnation’s life,’ River said, who had now walked back on-stage, and an actor playing Jamie appeared.

Jamie began to sing to the Doctor:

Ye'll take the high road and I'll take the low road
And I'll be in Scotland before ye          (5)

‘I’m already in Scotland, you buffoon!’  the Doctor remarked. ‘Now are you coming with us or not?’

‘Och, that’s a fine way ta treat a Scot,’ Jamie mumbled as he entered the TARDIS.

‘Eventually, Jamie found himself having to leave the Doctor when my future husband found himself on trial. It was inevitable that someone would interfere in my Doctor’s life. After all, his travels are dangerous and a glutton for attracting unwanted attention,’

Actors playing the War Chief, War Lord and a Time Lord entered the stage. The War Chief and War Lord formed a line in front of the Doctor as the Time Lord patrolled backwards and forwards in front of them.

The War Lord, War Chief and the Doctor sang;

Look down, look down
Do not interfere
Look down, look down,
It’s against the laws on here

TIME LORD
Now bring me the Doctor
Your time is up
And your trial’s begun
You know what that means.

THE DOCTOR
Yes, it means I'm going.

TIME LORD
No!
Follow me to the trial room for your prosecution
The companions of yours we’ll return to their times
It’s because you're a dangerous man

THE DOCTOR
I stole a Type 40 TARDIS.
The universe was prone to evil
And the people of Earth needed saving

TIME LORD
We will banish you there
Unless you learn the meaning of our laws.

THE DOCTOR
I know the consequences of non-interference
A bore of a life

TIME LORD
Exile to Earth for what you did
The rest because you tried to run
Yes, Doctor

THE DOCTOR
You will never know my name

TIME LORD
And I do not care
So as long as you do not forget your adopted name!
Do not forget it,
Doctor.

WAR CHIEF AND WAR LORD
Look down, look down
You'll always be a fool
Look down, look down
You're grounded for running away          (6)

The actor playing the 3rd Doctor strode on stage, posing heroically in front of a TARDIS standing in front of a lab background as an actor playing the Brigadier watched from the right side of the stage.

‘Doctor, you took the key,’ The Brigadier shouted, looking hurt.

‘Oh, so I did, my dear fellow. Sorry,’ said the Doctor guiltily.

‘I thought I could trust you. Clearly I was mistaken,’

‘Look, I’m truly sorry, old chap.  But you see:

I want to break free
I want to break free
I want to break free from this life
Your big military mind I don't need you
I've got to break free
Rassilon knows, Rassilon knows I want to break free

I've got a job
I've got a job for the first time
And this time it is not a lie
I've got a job yeah
God knows God knows why I’ve got a job

It's strange but it's true
I can't get over the way I’m working for you like countless others do
But I have to be sure
When I walk in the TARDIS door
Oh how I want to be free Brigadier
Oh how I want to be free
Oh how I want to break free,’

BRIGADIER
But Earth still needs protecting

THE DOCTOR
I won’t be able to get used to not having a job, not having a job
Protecting Earth without you by my side
I don't want to travel alone hey
Rassilon knows got to travel away with Lis Shaw
So Brigadier can't you see
I've got to break free
I've got to break free
I want to break free yeah
I want, I want, I want, I want to break free          (7)

‘Thank God you can’t,’ the Brigadier murmured. ‘UNIT needs you here, Doctor. Not gallivanting around the universe in that police box of yours,’

‘I suppose your right, old chap. I’m trapped here anyway for god knows how long,'

‘Good man. Now get back to work,’
